Welcome to First Baptist of Sunrise
The First Baptist Church of Sunrise is a member of the Southern Baptist, and came into being on June 21st, 1961. On this date, the church was officially established as a mission under the sponsorship of the Southwest Baptist Church
Brief History
The church with 49 members started in Lauderhill City Hall, and on January 31st, 1962 acquired the property on which the Church is now located. On February 28th, that same year, Lauderhill Baptist voted to change its' name to Northwest Baptist Church.
The name of the church was later changed to First Baptist Church of Sunrise Gulf Village, to reflect the surrounding community. In 1996, however, the "Gulf Village" was dropped leaving its name as "the First Baptist Church of Sunrise."
Who we are
As a member of the Southern Baptist, we adhere to the doctrinal position set forth in the Baptist Faith and Message. We believe in the verbal inspiration of the Bible. In one God eternally existing in three persons; namely, the father, Son, and Holy Spirit. That Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of the Father, conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary.
That Jesus was crucified, buried and raised from the dead; that he ascended to heaven and is today at the right hand of the Father as the Intercessor.
That all have sinned and come short of the glory of God, and that repentance is commanded of God for all, and necessary for forgiveness of sins.
That justification regeneration, and the new birth are wrought by faith in the blood of Jesus Christ, and sanctification subsequent to the new birth through faith in the blood of Christ through the Word and by the Holy Spirit.
